If you want to be in the heart of Playa del Carmen there are a few things that you usually have to sacrifice. Peace and quiet when you want it and cost. Enter Hotel Club Yebo. This small quaint hotel that is nestled one block down from 5th avenue and one block away from the beach and very budget friendly. What more could you ask for?
Room & Amenities
Club Yebo hotel is the perfect balance of cleanliness, great staff and location. Being nestled between a small restaurant and a dive shop, walking into Club Yebo makes you feel like you are staying in a jungle. Rooms are scattered between two floors but staircases are for specific rooms. There is a small pool/lounge area that is a nice change from the hectic and sun blazed beach, which is only one block over and one block down. You have everything you need in the room from bottle opener, plates and glasses to beach towels and even backpack style beach chairs.
On the second level, there is are two small lounge area and a small swimming pool. It’s a nice feature that you would not expect to see in a budget friendly hotel.
Located at 1st Ave, Gonzalo Guerrero, 77710 Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico, you are one block behind the famous 5th Ave where ample souvenir shops, clothing stores, convenient stores, bars and restaurants line both sides of the street. 5th Ave stretches over 20 blocks from where the hotel is and here are some basic landmarks that will help you get your bearings:
- 10 blocks away from ferry dock to Cozumel
- 7 blocks away from bus depot
- 1 1/2 blocks away from xx beach
- 7 blocks away from grocery store
To get here there are two options:
- Fly direct into Playa del Carmen
- Fly into Cancun and hire a shuttle or taxi or rent a car.
Obviously flying into Playa del Carmen direct is the most convenient but also the most expensive as smaller airports generally are. Coming from Cancun, you have several more options. Car rental agencies line the airport terminal but you don’t pick up the car there. You are shuttled to the lot which is still on airport property. Liability insurance is a requirement and at the time of writing the cost was $15 USD/day. If you have a credit card check and see if they cover car rental insurance, most do and they each have their own requirements for you to properly use it. We use Chase United and Chase Sapphire preferred and both offer car rental insurance. There are no tolls and it’s a straight shot on route 307, exit on Av Constituyentes, right on 1 Avenida Nte and it’s 2 blocks down on the right.
Buses are a great and economical way for getting places for about 175 pesos each way and runs about every 30 minutes from 4:30 am to 11:30 pm . Once in Playa del Carmen, it’s drops you off at 5th Ave & Ave Benito Juarez, three blocks to the Ultramar ferry dock.
Don’t want to deal with driving yourself or a bus, hired a shuttle at the airport or pre-arrange it but it’s definitely more expensive.
While the hotel is only one block away from sand, it’s more of a fishing dock but walk a few more blocks in either direction and you be rewarded with more lounge beaches, just look for the crowds. We spent time at the beach in front of Mamita’s beach club.
Whatever your choices are once you’re here dump your bags and hit the beach for some much need R & R!
